Flight Training

Learn to fly in Charlotte.

Private and commercial pilot training, flight reviews, and endorsements at Concord-Padgett Regional (KJQF). Training real aviators, not just certificate holders.

Discovery flight

Not sure yet? Take the controls on an introductory flight and see what it's like. We'll talk through what training looks like, what it costs, and how long it takes for your schedule.

Private pilot certificate

The FAA minimum is 40 flight hours, but most students need more, and that's normal. How fast you finish depends mostly on how often you fly. Students who fly two or three times a week finish faster and spend less. Training covers ground knowledge, flight skills, the written test, and preparing you for the checkride.

Commercial pilot certificate

Ready to fly for compensation or hire? Commercial training builds on your private pilot skills with the commercial maneuvers: chandelles, lazy eights, eights on pylons, steep spirals, and power-off 180 accuracy landings. The 172RG covers the complex aircraft training the certificate requires, and we'll work toward the 250 total hours you need for the checkride.

Flight reviews

Every pilot needs a flight review every 24 calendar months. It's at least an hour of ground and an hour of flight, and I tailor it to how you actually fly rather than running a generic checklist.

Endorsements and checkouts

  • High-performance endorsement, for airplanes with more than 200 horsepower
  • Complex endorsement, for retractable gear, flaps, and a controllable-pitch propeller
  • Cirrus SR22 checkouts
